In view of the ongoing devastating floods across Pakistan and in solidarity with the victims and their families, it has been decided that this year’s Defence and Martyrs Day will be observed with solemnity and simplicity.
The commemoration will be restricted to prayers for the solidarity, integrity, and prosperity of Pakistan, as well as special prayers for the Shuhada who sacrificed their lives in the defence of the motherland. Special prayers will
also be offered for the victims of the floods, their families, and all those affected by this national calamity. The nation stands united in grief with those who have suffered losses in the floods, while reaffirming its unwavering
resolve to overcome challenges with resilience and unity.
All concerned, friends and well-wishers are hereby informed that the Defence Day Reception, scheduled to be held in Colombo today, has been cancelled. We deeply regret any inconvenience caused and appreciate your kind understanding in this matter.
