PNS SAIF Continues HADR Operations in Support of Sri Lankan Authorities

On 1st December, PNS SAIF continued Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) efforts in coordination with Sri Lankan authorities. The embarked Z-9 helicopter conducted rescue operations in the flooded Kotikawatta area, where water levels had risen to nearly 15 feet.

Four survivors—stranded for five days, including a 7-month-old infant—were safely recovered from rooftops with no road access for nearly 4 km. Survivors were subsequently transported to safe locations.

Rations were also delivered to stranded families.

The helicopter remains airborne for ongoing SAR tasks, with additional missions planned today for further ration drops and recovery of remaining survivors as requested by Sri Lankan authorities.
