High Commissioner of Pakistan visited Diyagala Boys’ Town, a government charity organization
High Commissioner of Pakistan Maj. General (R) Faheem Ul Aziz, HI(M) visited Diyagala Boys’ Town, a government approved charity, maintained under the project “De La Salle Brothers’ Mission” today. The organization is running academic and vocational schools throughout the world and has its presence in almost 84 countries, including Pakistan.
Diyagala Boys’ Town has been providing technical education to the poor and disadvantaged children to equip them with vocational training in the fields of Welding, Lathe & Milling, Automotive Technology, IT, Electrical and Agriculture. The Institute is spanning an area of 64 acre and currently 70 students are getting vocational training along with boarding and lodging.
The High Commissioner was received by the Management of the town including Bro. Denzil Perera, Chairman and Br. Granville Perera Managing Director. A briefing on the activities of the town was given to the High Commissioner. After briefing the High Commissioner visited different facilities of the Institute.
The High Commissioner while addressing the students and faculty members appreciated the endeavors of the Institute. The High Commissioner underlined that this kind of training to the destitute children not only make them a valuable member of the society but also impart them with the skill to become an earning hand for their families. The High Commissioner also distributed sport activity kits amongst the student and donated a desktop computer for the Institute.
The Management of the Institute thanked the High Commissioner for visit and taking interest in the welfare of the students also for donation by the High Commission.
