High\nCommissioner of Pakistan, Maj. Gen. (R) Dr. Shahid Ahmad Hashmat called on the\nSri Lankan Prime Minister, H.E. Ranil Wickramasinghe on March 12, 2019 and\nbriefed him on regional security situation\nfollowing the Pulwama incident. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The High Commissioner apprised the Prime Minister about\nPakistan\u2019s desire for peace and stability in the region and resolution of all\nissues through meaningful negotiations and dialogue. He also underlined\nPakistan\u2019s resolve to protect its territory against any external aggression. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Shahid Hashmat, while highlighting the repeated overtures\nby the Prime Minister of Pakistan to de-escalate tensions across the Line of\nControl, emphasized that Pakistan would encourage international community\u2019s\nsupport for dialogue between India and Pakistan for peaceful resolution of all\ndisputes, including the Kashmir issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prime\nMinister H.E. Ranil Wickramasinghe, while acknowledging Pakistan\u2019s perspective,\nstated that Sri Lanka is closely observing the developing situation between\nIndia and Pakistan. He emphasized that the security tensions between the countries\nshould not be escalated. The Prime Minister expressed the hope that both\ncountries will resolve all issues through meaningful deliberations, which will\npromote peace and stability in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
