{"id":5295,"date":"2016-04-20T14:16:26","date_gmt":"2016-04-20T08:46:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pakistanhc.lk\/?p=5295"},"modified":"2020-01-09T00:13:25","modified_gmt":"2020-01-08T18:43:25","slug":"sri-lanka-and-pakistan-enjoy-exceptionally-good-relations-governor-punjab","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pakistanhc.lk\/?p=5295","title":{"rendered":"Sri Lanka and Pakistan Enjoy Exceptionally Good Relations: Governor Punjab"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pakistanhc.lk\/?attachment_id=4172\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4172\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4172\" title=\"Gov punjab\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pakistanhc.lk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Gov-punjab.jpg\" alt=\"Sri Lanka and Pakistan Enjoy Exceptionally Good Relations: Governor Punjab\" width=\"943\" height=\"523\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\"><span style=\"text-align: left;\">The Governor Punjab Malik Muhammad Rafiq Rajwana said Sri Lanka and Pakistan enjoy exceptionally good relations which are firmly standing on the pillars of mutual trust and respect.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Governor Punjab said this during a meeting with the high level Sri Lankan delegation comprising Speaker Sri Lankan Parliament Hon Karu Jayasuriya, senior Buddhist priests, politicians, academicians and officials at the Governor House, Lahore, last evening. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">He further said, the deep mutual love between the two peoples transcending any material bases is the essential ingredient of inherent strength of this special relationship which is further cemented by the commonality of eternal values of universal peace and love espoused both by Buddhism and Islam.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The delegation members thanked the Government of Pakistan for warm welcome and hospitality extended to them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The delegation also had an interactive meeting with the\u00a0deans and heads of various departments as well as\u00a0faculty members of Punjab University at\u00a0Al Raazi Hall of Undergraduate Block\u00a0of the University. Vice Chancellor of the university Dr. Mujahid Kamran briefed the delegates about the university faculties.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">While speaking on the occasion, Hon. Karu Jayasooriya said that the relationship between the two countries exists from times immemorial taking a firm shape through two thousand five hundred years old linkages established during the golden era of Gandhara civilization. Pakistan had helped Sri Lanka in difficult times especially during Sri Lanka\u2019s\u00a0fight against terrorism\u00a0which we cannot forget, he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Speaker Jayasuria said that it was a matter of pleasure that Sri Lankan students were studying at Punjab University and serving their homeland after completing their education. He said that relations between the two countries must also be enhanced in the education sector.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Deputy High Commissioner Dr Sarfraz Ahmed Khan said that Pakistan and Sri Lanka had supported each other with no terms and conditions attached. He said, \u201cPakistani Embassy is creating awareness in Sri Lanka regarding Pakistan\u2019s culture, tourism and sacred Buddhist places of Pakistan.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Dr. Mujahid Kamran also presented a souvenir to Hon. Karu Jayasooriya to commemorate the visit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The visiting delegation also met Minister of Human Rights and Minorities, Government of Punjab Mr. Khalil Tahir Sindhu\u00a0and had a cordial discussion about matters of mutual interest.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The high level delegation of Sri Lankan Buddhist Monks and eminent scholars is currently in \u00a0Pakistan for a\u00a0week-long\u00a0visit aimed at introducing the rich Buddhist Gandhara heritage of Pakistan to the people of Sri Lanka as well as to revive the Gandhara trail.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Governor Punjab Malik Muhammad Rafiq Rajwana said Sri Lanka and Pakistan enjoy exceptionally good relations which are firmly standing on the pillars of mutual trust and respect.
