At the invitation of President of Sri Lanka H.E. Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister of Pakistan, H.E Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, will undertake an official visit to Sri Lanka along with a high powered delegation from\u00a04 to\u00a06 January\u00a02016.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Federal Minister for Commerce Pakistan Engr. Khurram Dastgir Khan, Minister for\u00a0Defence\u00a0Production Rana Tanveer Hussain, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on\u00a0Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi, National Security Advisor Lt Gen (R) Nasir Khan Janjua and senior Government Officials will be accompanying the Prime Minister.<\/span><\/p>\n

Prime Minister H.E Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Begum Kalsoom Nawaz Sharif will be welcomed on their arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport by Prime Minister of Sri Lanka H.E Ranil Wickremesinghe.<\/span><\/p>\n

The official welcome ceremony presided by President of Sri Lanka H.E Maithripala Sirisena will be held on 5th\u00a0<\/sup>January 2016, at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo. The visiting Prime Minister will be accorded a ceremonial welcome including a Gun Salute and Guard of honour.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Sri Lankan President will lead the Official Bilateral discussions with the visiting Prime Minister on 5th\u00a0<\/sup>January 2016. The delegation for the talks will include Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Cabinet Ministers and Senior Government officials.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Several bilateral instruments in the areas of Health, Science & Technology, Trade, Statistics, Gem & Jewellery, Money Laundering & Terrorism Financing, and Culture are envisaged to be signed during the visit.\u00a0 Many business MoUs including deep sea fishing, cement, power, education and food will also be signed.<\/span><\/p>\n

H.E Maithripala Sirisena will host a State Banquet while H.E Ranil Wickremesinghe will host a lunch in honour of the visiting Prime Minister.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the invitation of the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute of International Relations and Strategic Studies (LKIIRSS), Prime Minister Sharif will deliver a special lecture at the Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel.<\/span><\/p>\n

During his stay in Sri Lanka, Prime Minister Sharif will visit the historic city of Kandy. He will visit Sri Dalada Maligawa Sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic, International Buddhist Museum and Jinnah Hall in Kandy. The Prime Minister will also visit the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens and will plant a \u201cKaranda\u201d tree (Pongamia pinnata<\/em>) to commemorate his visit to Sri Lanka.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is recalled that several high level visits have been exchanged between the two friendly countries which includes President H.E Maithripala Sirisena\u2019s State visit to Pakistan from 5-7 April, 2015 and Prime Minister H.E Muhammad Nawaz Sharif\u2019s visit to Sri Lanka in 2013 to participate in the Commonwealth Heads of State Meeting.<\/span><\/p>\n
