{"id":3808,"date":"2015-06-05T12:57:10","date_gmt":"2015-06-05T07:27:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pakistanhc.lk\/?p=3808"},"modified":"2020-01-09T00:16:17","modified_gmt":"2020-01-08T18:46:17","slug":"pakistans-army-chief-arrives-in-sri-lanka","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pakistanhc.lk\/?p=3808","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan\u2019s Army Chief arrives in Sri Lanka"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pakistanhc.lk\/2015\/06\/pakistans-army-chief-arrives-in-sri-lanka\/coas\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3809\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3809\" title=\"COAS\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pakistanhc.lk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/COAS.jpg\" alt=\"Pakistan\u2019s Army Chief arrives in Sri Lanka\" width=\"180\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: garamond, serif; font-size: medium;\">Pakistan\u2019s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif is arriving in Sri Lanka, this afternoon, on a long overdue visit, on the invitation of his Sri Lankan counterpart Lieutenant General A W J C\u00a0De\u00a0Silva.\u00a0 The 4 day visit will be General Sharif\u2019s first visit to Sri Lanka.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: garamond, serif; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: garamond, serif; font-size: medium;\">General Raheel Sharif will be received at the Bandaranaike International Airport\u00a0by Sri Lankan Army Commander Lieutenant General A W J C\u00a0De\u00a0Silva, High Commissioner of Pakistan Maj Gen \u00ae Shakeel Hussain and Defence Attach\u00e9 Col Muhammad Rajil Irshad Khan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: garamond, serif; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: garamond, serif; font-size: medium;\">During his stay in Sri Lanka, General Raheel Sharif will meet the President of the Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka HE Maithripala Sirisena and the Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe.\u00a0 General Sharif will also meet the top leadership of Sri Lanka\u2019s Armed forces.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: garamond, serif; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: garamond, serif; font-size: medium;\">The visit of Pakistan\u2019s Army Chief will provide both sides with an opportunity to review ongoing cooperation and collaboration, and to discuss ways to further broaden and deepen this relationship.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: garamond, serif; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: garamond, serif; font-size: medium;\">General Raheel Sharif is Pakistan\u2019s 15th Army Chief and carries with him a vast experience of Command, Staff and Instructional appointments. He was commissioned in 6th Battalion of the Frontier Force Regiment\u00a0in 1976. He has been holding the appointment of the Chief of Army Staff since November 2013.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: garamond, serif; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: garamond, serif; font-size: medium;\">Since independence, Sri Lanka and Pakistan have consistently maintained close, cordial and mutually supportive relations. Both nations have assisted each other during testing times in their history.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: garamond, serif; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: garamond, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Pakistan<\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u00a0and Sri Lanka have comprehensive and mutually beneficial training collaboration for Army, Navy and Air Force. Over a period of time, a strong bond of commitment and mutual understanding has been reached between both the countries.
