This will be his second visit as he previously visited Sri Lanka in January 2011.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">During his stay in Sri Lanka, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani will meet the top military leadership of the country. He\u00a0will also hold discussions on matters of professional interests with Secretary Defence Sri Lanka, Hon\u00a0Gotabaya Rajapaksa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani\u00a0will review the Passing out Parade at Sri Lanka Military Academy, Diyatalawa on 28<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0June 2013 as Chief Guest.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The visit of Pakistan\u2019s Army Chief will provide both sides an opportunity to review ongoing cooperation and collaboration, and to discuss ways to further broaden and deepen this relationship.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">A get together of Pakistan Staff College and National Defence University\u2019s qualified officers is being arranged during visit of General Kayani to provide opportunity to the Sri Lankan alumni of these prestigious Pakistani Institutions to interact with Pakistan\u2019s Army Chief.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani is Pakistan&#8217;s 14th Army Chief and is noted for his patience, diligence, intelligence and determination. He was commissioned in an Infantry Battalion on 29 August 1971 and joined the famed Baloch Regiment. He has been holding the appointment of the Chief of Army Staff since November 2007.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Since independence, Sri Lanka and Pakistan have consistently maintained close, cordial and mutually supportive relations especially in the field of defense.
