\u00a0\"Pakistan<\/a><\/p>\n

Pakistan\u00a0won 2 prestigious awards at 2013\u00a0SAARC\u00a0Film\u00a0Festival awards ceremony held at the National Films Corporation Sri Lanka. Pakistan won awards in the categories of Best Actress and Best Feature Films in the 3rd<\/sup>\u00a0edition of the annual SAARC Film Festival, which was held from 26th<\/sup>\u00a0to 31st<\/sup>\u00a0May 2013.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Film Festival screened Feature and Documentary films from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, which were adjudicated by an International panel of Jury\u00a0from Singapore, Iran and Russia.\u00a0The SAARC Film Festival 2013 focused on promoting some of the best films featured from 2010 to 2012 from all member states of the SAARC Association.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The\u00a0awards\u00a0for the\u00a0Best\u00a0Actress\u00a0of the year in SAARC Region went to Pakistan\u2019s Aamina Sheikh, for her role in \u201cSeedlings- Lamha\u201d. Pakistan also won Silver Medal in the category of Best Feature Film of SAARC Region for\u00a0\u201cSeedlings- Lamha\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Pakistan\u00a0had nominated one feature film and two\u00a0documentaries\u00a0for the\u00a0festival. The film in feature category was\u00a0\u201cSeedlings- Lamha\u201d<\/strong>, whereas\u00a0\u201cThe Story of a Living Saint\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0\u201cA Bike Ride from USA to Pakistan\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0were included in the\u00a0documentary\u00a0category.<\/p>\n

The award winning 90 minutes feature film \u2018Seedlings\u2019 is directed by Mansoor Mujahid and produced by Meher Jaferi.\u00a0\u00a0\u201cSeedlings- Lamha\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0chronicles the story of a\u00a0happy couple whose lives are changed forever after a devastating accident. The circumstances surrounding the tragedy leave the couple besieged with unanswered questions, leading them to re-evaluate their whole approach to life and their mutual relationship.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Awards Ceremony was held under the distinguished patronage of Hon Minister Dhilan Perera, Minister of Foreign Employment, Promotion and Welfare, Sri Lanka.\u00a0The Chief Guest congratulated the\u00a0SAARC\u00a0Cultural Centre for organizing the\u00a0Film\u00a0Festival and reiterated his support for such events. He also congratulated\u00a0Pakistan\u00a0for receiving the\u00a0awards\u00a0and appreciated the cinematic excellence displayed by the Pakistani presentations.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0SAARC\u00a0Film\u00a0Festival is an annual event, encouraging visual arts, and bringing nations together.<\/strong><\/p>\n
