The High Commission of Pakistan in Colombo hosted the visiting Four-member Pakistan Davis Cup team along with their team officials at a reception today. \u00a0The Pakistani squad includes Aisamul Haq Qureshi, Aqeel Khan, Yasir Khan and M Abid.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Pakistan Davis Cup team is in Sri Lanka to take part in Davis Cup Asia Oceania Zone Group II tie against Sri Lanka, which will be played from February 1 to 3, 2013, at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association clay courts.<\/span><\/p>\n

The tie will feature four Singles and one Doubles match. The two opening Singles matches are scheduled for 1st<\/sup>\u00a0February and the Doubles match will be played on February 2 and 3.<\/span><\/p>\n

All the matches will be played on the basis of best of five sets under the scrutiny of Indian referee Punnet Gupta and Sri Lankan Muffadel Hazari and Prasad Jayalatharachchi as the two chair umpires.<\/span><\/p>\n

As the host Sri Lanka have never beaten Pakistan in the first round of Asia\/Oceania Zone Group II in the all four previous meetings.<\/span><\/p>\n

The winners of the Colombo tie will meet the winners of New Zealand versus Lebanon Group tie to decide which country stays in contention for Group I promotion, while the losers of this week’s two ties will meet in the relegation play off in April.<\/span><\/p>\n

The reception was attended by the Acting High Commissioner of Pakistan H.E Amna Baloch and the officers from the Pakistan High Commission Colombo.<\/span><\/p>\n
