Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar Tuesday deeply regretted what she called \u201cwar mongering\u201d coming from India\u00a0following firing incidents in Kashmir, saying Pakistan wants complete normalization of relations with New Delhi.\u00a0\u00a0Speaking to a largely American audience at Asia Society, Khar said the\u00a0Indo-Pakistan dialogue process should remain uninterrupted and uninterruptible.\u00a0\u00a0\u201cWe are deeply committed to peaceful coexistence with India.\u201d Both countries cannot afford a conflict, she said in a well-reasoned speech.\u00a0Pakistan had acted with restraint despite inflammatory statements from\u00a0across the border, the foreign minister pointed out. \u201cWhat do we see today?\u201d Khar\u00a0asked.

\u201cWe see three incidents across the LOC (line of control) and we see war\u00a0mongering which puts the last 60 years actively back into our memories. War\u00a0mongering coming in from the other side of the border, which I thought was the\u00a0thing of yesteryears and the thing that we had put behind us.\u201d
\n\u201cAs I read statements coming in from the highest levels of government, I\u00a0can just say we are deeply disappointed,\u201d Khar continued.
\n\u201cAnd I can say on behalf of my government that we feel that the dialogue\u00a0process should be uninterrupted and uninterruptible. … We must not close the\u00a0door on dialogue.\u201d
\nKhar, who was responding to a question, said there was no evidence that\u00a0Pakistan had beheaded an Indian soldier in the Kashmir skirmishes. She also\u00a0expressed disappointment with India\u2019s decision to rescind moves to relax visa\u00a0restrictions between the countries.
\n\u201cSomething which has already been achieved, which has been attained, we are\u00a0going back on,\u201d she said.
\nDespite recent rhetoric, she said Pakistan remains committed to a dialogue\u00a0with India to obtain \u201ccomplete normalization to not only peacefully coexist, but\u00a0contribute to the development of the region.\u201d
\nAsked about the rally being led by Minhajul Quran International chief Dr.Tahirul Qadri\u2019s, Khar characterized him as representing a small minority outside\u00a0the political system intent on disturbing upcoming elections by making demands\u00a0that are contrary to the constitutional fabric of Pakistan.
\n\u201cIt\u2019s preposterous, it\u2019s unconstitutional and he could be arrested for\u00a0that,\u201d she said.
\n\u201cHopefully his movement will die down.\u201d Khar also discussed Pakistan\u2019s\u00a0relationship with the United States, reiterating comments she made last November\u00a0that things were on \u201ca positive trajectory,\u201d but that the war on terror had had\u00a0an adverse impact on Pakistan.
\n\u201cWe have suffered too much and gained too little,\u201d she said. Pakistan lost\u00a0a total of $75 billion since September 11 2001, besides huge costs in terms of\u00a0human life.
\nThe foreign minister said Pakistan supports an afghan-led, Afghan-driven\u00a0reconciliation process and would facilitate dialogue between the Taliban and the\u00a0Afghan government.
\nIn opening remarks, she spoke of the challenges the democratic government\u00a0of President Asif Ali Zardari faced and its accomplishments in various fields,\u00a0especially the legislations the Parliament enacted to provide protection to the\u00a0women and enhance their status.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
